	From the artist: "Blanco #17 is about opening up a large flat round steel plate by making straight line cuts through it, and pulling it apart. The plate becomes three dimensional, giving an openness to the sculpture. This piece is the largest of several related sculptures I constructed around 1985, and it was shown at Woodstock in Upstate New York." Mac Whitney

	Mac Whitney Mac Whitney lives and works in Ovilla, Texas. He received his B.A. from Kansas State Teachers College and a M.F.A. at the University of Kansas. In 1979 he was awarded a commission, by the National Endowment for the Arts, to build a large-scale sculpture for the city of Houston. The N.E.A. also gave Mr. Whitney an individual artist award. He has been invited to participate in museum and gallery exhibitions in Berlin, New York, Washington D.C.'s Corcoran, the Chicago Navy Pier, Missouri, New Mexico, California, and throughout Texas. His work is included in public collections at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Fort Worth Art Museum, the Witte Museum in San Antonio, the Nave Museum in Victoria, Texas, and in many private collections including the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas, HKS Architects, and Hall Financial Group.
