"Spirit is a name I give to the S curve pieces that are like female shapes. The Black Granite is the most musical in quality. The inner column exposes only part of the inner shape. My work is always about man and nature working together. The straight cuts and sides represent man, the rough torn granite edges represent nature."

Jesus Bautista Moroles is the best-known stone carver in Texas, known nationally and internationally. He constantly receives commissions for public and private collections. His favorite stone is granite and he is known for his delicate slender cuts in stone totems with curvilinear designs that produce musical sounds when stroked. Mr. Moroles is also known for his large one-piece granite fountains.
